I’ve always wanted to build a Robby the Robot. But there are a lot of challenges (sadly, mostly legal-related) in this task. But the B9 robot from Lost in Space was designed by the same person who did Robby (Bob Kinoshita) and there is an active club of Builders.

In 2008, Monica subscribed me to the club (little did she know what was going to happen…) As “stress-relief” while writing my first book that year, I built the B9 on the side.

Before he passed away, I was also able to contract Dick Tufeld – the original voice of the B9 – to record some custom dialog for my robot. The B9 Builders Club are some of the nicest people around.
